The village of Porto
|
The Episcopal town or Porto's castle, from the III century to 1120 was the venue of the cardinal of "Porto", one of the most illustrious ecclesiastical title of the Roman Church. When the town of "Porto" depopulated (during the decadence and the following disappearance of the Roman Empire), the Episcopal venue assumed the function of defense and shelter for the population against Barbarians and Saracens' raids. The actual building and the church of the ' 600 - ' 700 are located inside costantinian walls of the town.
